My husband and I had the opportunity to attend Outstanding in the Field in Brenham, TX . People travel from all over to have this one of a kind experience. Lucky for us our home and B&B is just 15 minutes away from this particular venue! Outstanding in the Field’s mission is to reconnect diners to the land and origins of their food and to honor local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it. We enjoyed a 5 course meal made from local ingredients and prepared by Paul Lewis, the chef of Cullen’s Upscale American Grille . Each course was paired with a Texas wine, and the event was held at Jolie Vue Farms , about an hour and a half outside of Houston and a 15 minute country drive from Brenham Texas and the B&B.
We arrived around 2pm

Brenham is that perfect small town atmosphere at Christmas! We decorate downtown with thousands of lights to greet you as soon as you turn the corner and on one special night of the year we keep our doors open late, greeting people with smiles, hot cider, and homemade goodies.
At 6pm we line the streets to watch our festive lighted parade complete with music, kids, horses, and Santa! Afterward we mingle in the streets, tour the Gingerbread Houses, enjoy live entertainment & dance, listen to the tuba band play Christmas carols, and peruse through all the many shops – you’re sure to find something special for that someone special! Santa hangs out all evening at Hermann’s Furniture Co to take pictures with the little ones.

Texas Wine Trail Celebrations
First two weekends in October
The Texas Department of Agriculture has designated October as Texas Wine Month. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the crisp Fall weather and the 10 wineries in Houston’s Hill Country. This wine trail is packed with prizes and great wine selections, paired with a unique sausage dish at each winery. Book your romantic weekend escape at the ranch and enjoy the trail!
In addition to our wine and food pairings, each trail ticket holder will receive one raffle ticket at each winery they visit. Ticket holders will complete the raffle ticket and turn it in at the member winery at the time of visit. At the conclusion of the October wine trail, all raffle tickets will be combined into one drawing pot. Winning raffle tickets will be drawn randomly for chances to win the prizes listed below. Don’t let July & August slip by without celebrating the grape harvest at two local vineyards. July 21-22 and again on July 28-29, Pleasant Hill Winery offers its annual “Crush for Fun” celebration – your chance to stomp grapes, get purple feet, T-shirt and a photo. The Harvest Grape Stomp at Windy Winery takes place over the same weekends: July 21-22 and July 28-29. Take a hayride to the vineyard, pick grapes, then stomp those grapes and mark your T-shirt with those purple feet. Don’t forget the video camera. Then the first two additional weeks in early August continue the grape harvest and stomp. Stay with us to make it the perfect weekend getaway! In addition to the winery stomps, stop by Saddlehorn Winery and experience their delicious wines…..all three wineries are part of the Bluebonnet Wine Trail.
