Ernie’s Bistro
February 26th, 2013 by Pamela Murski
If your aren’t planning on dining “inn” at the B&B during your stay with us, we have several restaurants in town just minutes from the ranch to choose from…..We recommend you try Ernie’s Bistro in downtown Brenham. Located on the
square, adjacent to the Washington County Courthouse at 103 S. Baylor Street, Ernie’s provides a wonderful atmosphere for lunch and dinner. We especially like the fact that they use organic vegies and locally sourced grass fed and free range meats when possible; not to mention the handmade breads and tortillas! You know you are in a good restaurant

Must Be Heaven
August 6th, 2012 by Pamela Murski
This local eatery, long a stop for tour buses and locals alike year round for delicious sandwiches on homemade bread, scrumptious quiches, decadent homemade pies and delicious hand dipped Blue Bell ice cream! Sit at the soda fountain counter for an old fashioned malt or grab a table after placing your order at the bar. The menu is posted daily on a major size chalkboard just behind the cashier.
My favorites include the Muffaletta sandwich which rivals any that I’ve had in the Quarter in New Orleans (and I’ve had my share over the years!) and for dessert, the Sawdust pie is hard to beat! This restaurant just 5 minutes from the B&B and located on Alamo Street in historic downtown Brenham just west of the square, is open seven days a week for lunch, snacks, coffee, etc.
Mobius Coffeehouse…..coffee, food, and entertainment!

It is the perfect backdrop for young and old to hang out and to feast while enjoying some of the local scene and some really great tunes. YUMM!
June 9th, 2012 by Pamela Murski
One of the latest local eateries in Brenham and located not far from the B&B, called YUMM, opened in downtown this past year. Looking for some great pizza, gelato, ice cream, salads, sandwiches or CANDY? This is the place to go! This is like visiting the old Perry Brothers store that was located in this same spot when I was a child. A store with penny candy and lots of it to choose from! Have a sweet tooth, then this is the spot to satisfy it! A pizzeria and candy shop combine to create this unique and delectable dining experience. This fun, delicious family oriented eatery is sure to become a local fave and tourist destination!
Scoops: Brenham Texas Ice Cream Hot Spot!
May 22nd, 2012 by Pamela Murski
Scoops, my all time favorite spot to go to for Blue Bell Ice Cream, has 20 or more flavors available year round….and yes, ice cream is a great treat in Winter too! I can always get my favorites here (Lemon, Mocha Almond Fudge & Strawberry) and it is only a 10 minute drive away from the B&B! So whether your passing by or coming for an overnight stay, this is one spot not to miss to get your ice cream fix!

Romance & Pizza
October 4th, 2011 by Pamela Murski
- Time for Pizza and Ice Cold Brew!
- New York Pizza time in Brenham Texas!
- Great Pizza to order and take to the ranch!
The handmade pizza that comes out of this tiny shop rivals any New York gourmet style pizza pie! Dominic’s recipe is a family recipe passed down from his grandfather who opened the first pizza warehouse in New York when he immigrated. You can dine in or take out. We love the Margherita and the Bada Bing pizzas! Grab you a Shiner Bock, which is a Texas made beer, while you wait! It doesn’t get any better than this!
Better yet, order your pizza to go and enjoy it at the ranch during your romantic weekend getaway! Dominics Pizza, just 5 minutes from the ranch, is located on South Market Street inside Möbius Coffeehouse and is open seven days a week.

- Looking for lunch in Brenham…this is good!
Located inside the Ant Street Inn on Commerce Street just off of square in downtown Brenham, the Brenham Grill offers a mix of foods from Mexican through American and Italian. With about 12 or so cloth covered tables this small restaurant serves up delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. His lasagna is especially good and served with a housemade Rosemary bread. In the winter, we like the steamy Tortilla Soup…a great chill chaser!

Funky Art Cafe
April 27th, 2011 by Pamela Murski
Through the creative inspiration of Connie Wilder, this local cafe never disappoints with its’ delightful menu of soups, salads, lunch entrees and dessert! Located on Alamo Street in historic downtown Brenham, this eatery is housed in one of the many interesting historical buildings where you can see and enjoy some of the original architecture styles of times past. I am especially fond of her pot pies and pan fried chevre’. It is conveniently located only a 5 minute drive from the ranch and is a great spot for lunch when shopping downtown shops!
BT Longhorn Saloon

- Steak & Seafood Restaurant in Brenham TX
Not actually a saloon but rather a real restaurant specializing in steak and seafood, they do boast a very fine antique bar with full liquor! Housed in a historical building one block from the square in downtown Brenham on Baylor Street, this restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner: 205 South Baylor St., 979-421-6700. I especially enjoy the seared Ahi Tuna and Seaweed Salad that can be found on the appetizer menu. This delicious restaurant is conveniently located just 5 minutes from the B&B where we host culinary adventures, cooking classes and intimate elopements at the ranch.
Volare’ Italian Restaurant

- Italian Restaurant in Brenham TX
If authentic Italian food and great wine are what you are looking for then look no further than Volare’. Owned and operated by Italian, Silvio de Generro, this restaurant offers Italian comfort food, wine and atmosphere at its’ best! Located just a couple of blocks from the square in historic downtown Brenham on Ross street, Volare’ is open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner. I especially enjoy the Cappellini Contadina which is a pasta dish and the Creme Brûlée for dessert. Add a glass of Chianti and his homemade rolls with herb infused dipping oil and you have a feast!! Volare’ is just 5 minutes from the ranch where we offer cooking classes and romantic lodging at the B&B.
Li’l Independence Icehouse
February 21st, 2011 by Pamela Murski
The latest food venue to hit Washington County is this fun little icehouse which serves up some of the best grub going! Locate a few miles north of the B&B, near the historic village of Independence is Rodney Kenjura’s newest restaurant venture aptly called “Li’l Independence Icehouse & Good Eats Co”! Rodney has owned and operated several steakhouses in several cities throughout the state and his family are the original proprietors of the famous K&G Steakhouse in Brenham which served up handcut steaks to lobster for many a year until their retirement & sale of the restaurant.
Some of the offerings to be found at the Li’l Independence Icehouse include amazing barbeque sided with the perfect Texas fixin’s, delicious chili, gumbo with just the right kick and more…..Friday Nights Fish & Shrimp wtih all the trimmings and soon to come Saturday Night Steak & Stomp! When out and about touring or coming in for the roses at the Emporium, be sure to add this spot to stop for your daily bite (and take some home for later too!)
Royers Cafe
February 6th, 2011 by Pamela Murski
This is one of the dining experiences you don’t want to miss when in town staying at the B&B. Royers is best know for its’ pies but the food is pretty good too. Just the atmosphere in this small town and its’ cafe is worth the short drive over. For many it is a semi annual stop during the big Round Top Antiques Fairs.
Where to Eat & Drink While at the Ranch
January 28th, 2011 by Pamela Murski
While staying at the ranch in Brenham, enjoy a beautiful 20 minute drive from the B&B to The Stone Cellar in Round Top….. a local favorite watering hole!
Located in an 1873-vintage historical stone building that was once a brewery and is reputedly a bit haunted, the Stone Cellar is now a great gathering place featuring a wine shop, bar, real pub and pizzeria. With lots of beers on tap, an expansive wine selection and the gourmet thin crusted pizza that would rival any Italian Bistro Pie, the Stone Cellar delivers a great experience and one we highly recommend! You can enjoy a quiet table in the wine bar, a more festive environment in the Pub, a table on the Patio under its’ canopy of Pecan trees on a balmy day, or in the Old Stone Cellar itself where live music is often on the menu.
Southern Flyer Diner at the Brenham Airport
January 20th, 2011 by Pamela Murski
Southern Flyer Diner is located a mere 3 miles from the B&B along with the local airport where the diner is home. Known for their burgers, old fashioned milk shakes, chicken fried steaks and 50′s style diner, this local haven is a must stop for pilots coming through the area as well as locals & tourists looking for some really good grub and old fashioned fun. For four years running the Diner has been voted “Best of the Best” on the 100 Dollar Hamburger survey . Of course, the $100 is not the cost of a burger. “A great place to land with great eats” is how they advertise it. The “poodle girls” (waitresses) and retro atmosphere just add to the fun. For a taste of the fun, check out this video of the Diner’s owners receiving the ‘$100’ award.
