The fierce brewers at Blackwater Draw Brewing Company work hard to craft incredible brews year-round. You can’t be a brewmaster and not have an intense love for beer and the craft of making it. Texas A&M Football Season Recap

Week 1

The Aggies started off strong in the first week of the college football season with a big 38-17 win against the Arizona State Sun Devils. The Sun Devils attempted to recruit two local players who ended up signing with Texas A&M making this match-up one for the books. It was also the first time the Sun Devils played the Aggies which caused a large drop in Arizona State’s rankings after the loss.

Week 2

With a 56-23 win over the Ball State Cardinals, Kyle Allen threw 126 yards just in the first half! The energy was electric at Kyle Field for this game. Kyler Murray threw his first career touchdown pass at the end of the first half. 

Week 3

The Nevada Wolf Pack took a brutal beating in the week 3 game against the Aggies. Allen totalled five touchdowns in this huge win against the Wolf Pack. At this point, the Texas A&M team and their fans were ready for SEC football. As the last nonconference game, everyone was excited anticipating the first conference game in week 4.

Week 4

After Week 4 the Aggies are rising in the power rankings. Texas A&M remain undefeated and brought home a 28-21 win after a thrilling overtime game against the Arkansas Razorbacks. A missed field goal sealed the deal for the Aggies, keeping their unbeaten status early in the season. After the Arkansas game, the Aggies rose to 12th in the power rankings.

Week 5

Week 5 has come and gone and the Aggies still remain undefeated. The Aggies headed into the second half with a 14-point lead and remained on top throughout the second half. The second half didn’t see any touchdowns from Texas A&M, but their two field goals kept them on top. With a final score of 30-17 against Mississippi State, the Aggies are ready to continue their undefeated reign throughout the season.

The amount of things to do near College Station are limitless!  Our Bed and Breakfast is a mere 40 minute drive through  the beautiful countryside from College Station and guests are often having to choose from the abundance of activities, sites to visit, historical attractions, music and theatre venues, tours, gardens, restaurants, and other exciting things to do near College Station and Brenham.  To get you started here is a short listing of  our top 6 picks!

1.  Washington On The Brazos State Park:

The Birthplace of Texas, Washington On The Brazos is an amazing historical site and one of the many things to do near College Station and Brenham.  Some highlights of WOB…. 2.  George Bush Library:

The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, part of the National Archives and Records Administration’s Presidential Libraries network, home of records and artifacts of George H.W. 3.  Winery Tours and Tastings:

Home to the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail,  there are a variety of Boutique Wineries between College Station and Brenham to stop, tour and enjoying a tasting at.  Some of our favorites on the trail are Pleasant Hill Winery, Windy Winery, Saddlehorn Winery, Texas Star Winery, and Messina Hof Winery.  The trail hosts food and wine pairing with special events throughout the year.  Murski Homestead B&B is  located within 15 minutes of 3 of the 4 listed!

4.  Independence, Texas:

Founded in 1835, Independence is a town rich in history including being the homesite of Baylor University and the home to General Sam Houston and his family  in the 1850s.   Visit Old Baylor Park, walk the village loop, and learn about early Texas history, Sam Houston, pioneer homes, historic churches, old plantations, and more.  Bike tours, driving tours, walking tour, lighted church tour and festival celebrations throughout the  year can all be found in this tiny historic town.   To plan your tour, click here.

5.  Theatre in Historic Downtown Brenham:

6.  Antique Shopping:

Every little town has its’ antique shop draw.  Some of our favorite haunts to get you started are located in Brenham, a mere 35 minute drive from College Station, are Leftovers, JR’s Antiques, Blue Bird Off  The Square, Antique Gypsy and of, course, the semi-annual Round Top Antiques Shows.  In Bryan, be sure to visit the downtown area for some great shops and in the outlying towns of Navasota and Chappell  Hill.
