Saddlehorn Winery
Friday, September 3rd, 2010
I enjoyed visiting and tasting the newest winery on the scene in Washington County: Saddlehorn! The owners of Saddlehorn are interesting, informative and have built a top notch sophisticated winery production/tasting barn with lots of granite, glass, stainless barrels and Texas furniture. This winery is located not too far from the ranch and is situated on beautiful country property between Brenham and Burton. I can home with 2 bottles for our sipping pleasure: “Barn Red” and “Happy Trails White”! You must make this a stop on your next wine tour of the Bluebonnet Wine Trail and add a stay at the ranch while here!

Herb Cooking Class Luncheon for Batten Foundation Auction

- Herb Cooking Class/Batten Foundation Luncheon
- Pear Compote with Bay, Honey & Greek Yogurt
- Cooking Instructor, Pamela Murski
I was so pleased to be able to donate an herb cooking class luncheon benefiting the Luke and Rachel Batten Foundation recently. This rare childhood disease for which there is currently no cure, is extremely brutal and robs children of a full life span. The foundation raises money for research and awareness to give these children and their families a ray of hope during their battle. Thanks go out to that special group of Chappell Hill women who purchased the cooking class luncheon and came to the B&B for the special event!

Antiques, Bed and Breakfast, Brenham Texas
Thursday, August 5th, 2010
Brenham Texas is known for its’ history, architecture, wineries, Blue Bell ice cream, shopping, restaurants and famous Fall and Spring antiques fairs. True antique hunters also know we also have several antique shows throughout the year here locally. At the most recent Summer show, held at the KC Hall just a couple miles from the Bed and Breakfast, I procured a new treasure that has already found a home on my pine harvest table. This English Copper Warming Tray has a beautiful patina from years of service. It will be put back in service during many of our Foodie events and cooking class adventures.

Washington County, home to our ranch and bed and breakfast, is incredible year round but is particularly known for its’ spring wildflowers and breathtaking views. We recently spied these painters on the side of the road enjoying the views and painting opportunities provide by our fabulous spring displays. Benjamin Knox has a gallery in College Station and Cowboyhas a gallery in Somerville. Their trusty black lab was along for the adventure!

Windy Winery Chili Cook-off Near Brenham TX B&B
Thursday, February 25th, 2010
Another Texas tradition, a chili cook-off, was paired with Texas wines at Windy Winery last Saturday just down the road from Murski Homestead B&B, here in Brenham TX. There were 4 chili teams for the first annual event hosted by Auggie and Linda Meitzen of Windy Winery. John Beland, famed guitarist, was also on hand providing live music while we tasted and drank! The event, held outdoors, was fun, fun, fun and delicious to boot! Be sure to put it on your calendar for next year and stay at the ranch just a few miles down the road!

Mobius… That’s the name of Brenham’s latest addition to the food and nightlife scene, a brand new real deal coffee house. Located on Market Street it has real coffee house hours Monday through Saturday 7 am. to 10 pm. You can stop by any evening and the place is hopping. November 21, you will find Jenny Wood in concert! I enjoyed a Latte’ on my first visit and am definitely looking forward to my next. I am also looking forward to trying some of the enticing food offerred such as a Panini. I have had reports that the food is very good. Brenham offers lots to do! So, give it a try on your next stop in town….
