You love that incredible chewy dense delicious texture of French bread but don’t have the time or patience for all the kneading, then this no knead recipe is for you! It delivers all that same great taste experience you know and love. We recently featured this bread in one of our cooking classes at the ranch. We made an extra loaf just in case….. It was a good thing we did because there were only a few crumbs left!

Incredible wines and tastings with unbelievable scenery are found in Washington County and the surrounding area! At Murski Homestead we feature local fare and local wine which are used in our cooking classes, Vintner dinners and special Foodie Weekends. One of the most recent additions to the scene it the Bluebonnet Wine Trail, wine fun that is not to be missed! The wineries along the trail will offer a pairing of two cheeses from local artisans with two wines. As an added bonus, receive a packet of Texas wildflower seeds at each winery you visit (while supplies last).

OLD GARDEN ROSES: Mike Shoup, owner of the Antique Rose Emporiumin Brenham is one of the original “rose rustlers” who brought heirloom roses back into trade. Another Texas tradition, a chili cook-off, was paired with Texas wines at Windy Winery last Saturday just down the road from Murski Homestead B&B, here in Brenham TX. There were 4 chili teams for the first annual event hosted by Auggie and Linda Meitzen of Windy Winery. John Beland, famed guitarist, was also on hand providing live music while we tasted and drank! The event, held outdoors, was fun, fun, fun and delicious to boot! Be sure to put it on your calendar for next year and stay at the ranch just a few miles down the road!

Every year in
Brenham, Texas, the first weekend in December is the big downtown Christmas Stroll with the lighted parade and the first big weekend that the
ranch is decorated for the season. It is a fantastic way to start the Christmas season with wassail (or in my case “Spiked Hot Lemonade”), gingerbread houses, outdoor music & activities, the showing of an outdoor Christams classic movie on the courthouse square, shopping late, Christmas plays at Unity Theatre and, of course, the lighted downtown Christmas Parade! The picture below gives you just a glimpse into some of the fun to be had this weekend each year. There is a huge competition (for bragging rights only) to see who can come up with the best float. The theme for the parade this year was Candy Lane Christmas and this float did a great job of bringing the game of Candy Land to life! What you can’t see is that the gingerbread house puffs out sugar-cookie scented smoke…it was way too cool! Be sure to try our Spiked Lemonade recipe and reserve your
2 night stay at our ranch for this great event next year! You don’t want to miss out!

Spiked Hot Lemonade
1 large can frozen lemonade
1 large can water (use lemonade can for measuring)
1 1/2 cups good quality vodka (Grey Goose)
Warm lemonade and water. Add vodka and heat to your liking. Use a fresh Rosemary sprig for swizzling and the taste gets even better! Pour up and enjoy!
