July 18th, 2015 by Pamela Murski

The 2015 Washington County Fair is coming up soon!  The ranch is located just a stone’s throw from the fairgrounds….you can actually walk to and from is you want to avoid the traffic…..or you can sit on the front porch and listen as the sounds of the frivolities float on the air waves and see the lights in the distance!  Known as the “Oldest County Fair in Texas”, the 2015 Washington County Fair will showcase a variety of venues and fun attractions……. Shows, Rodeos, Music and Fun……. Nashville entertainment, carnival, crafts, food, livestock and poultry auctions, commercial exhibits and indoor/outdoor attractions!  For those of you who are new to the fair scene and country fun, you can’t possibly get any more authentic than the “Oldest County Fair in Texas”.

The Fair this year is September 11 – 19, 2015.  Most days the gates open at 8:00 a.m. and close around 1 a.m.  You will never lack for something interesting to see, do, hear, smell, touch and taste…..animals, judging contests, art & commercial displays, shopping & auctions, rodeo, live bands & dancing, carnival exhibits & rides, live entertainment, and more.  From cold beer, burgers, mexican food, sausage & kraut dogs to fair food like corn dogs, funnel cake, candy apples, & deep fried goodies, you won’t lack for something tasty to eat.

Every evening, stroll down to the rodeo grounds for a rip roaring-hat throwing good time watching all the rodeo events such as bull riding, calf roping, bronc bucking plus the antics of the famous rodeo clowns who keep all the participants (including the animals) as safe as possible from harm!  Following the rodeo, head on  back up to the dance pavilion for live bands and good old fashioned boot scootin!  Or, stroll through the carnival and take a turn winning your favorite love a prize or two.  If you’ve got kiddos (heck even adults still count), you can enjoy the carnival rides like the “Tilt a Whirl”!

After an evening of fun, mosey on back to the Bed and Breakfast and sink into the luxuriously soft sheets and pillows on your king size bed in your private room and dream the night away….or what’s left of it!  If you’re not ready to hit the hay just set, set a spell on one of our porches and enjoy the evening stars and pleasure of country life at the ranch.  In the morning, sleep in late and your breakfast will still be waiting on you when you rise…..already in your private pantry and ready to be enjoyed!

Making a shorter day of it at the fair and ready for a really good meal, then head into town and stroll the historic downtown area where you will see beautiful architecture and quaint boutiques and antique shops.  Stop in at BT Longhorn Saloon for a delicious steak or Volare’ Italian Restaurant for authentic italian fare, both of which are just off the downtown square.  Or grab some gourmet cheese, crackers and a delicious bottle of Texas wine from  one of our local grocery stores (HEB) and head back to the ranch for an evening of relaxing in our outdoor spa!

Pack your boots, your cowboy duds (including hat!) and book your room at the Bed and Breakfast for a fun time in Brenham at the 2015 Washington County Fair!  Get the full schedule of events for the 2015 Washington County Fair here.
