Brenham Texas Amphitheatre
The Dr. Bobbie M. Dietrich Memorial Amphitheatre in Hohlt Park was officially opened with its first concert and praise for what it will bring to the quality of life here.
The 300-seat amphitheater was built using a $250,000 donation from Dr. Wilfred Dietrich, who called the project “a dream that Bobbie (his wife) and I had for many years.” Dietrich said that he and his late wife, who were both Blinn College professors before they retired, “felt that Brenham and the state needed an amphitheater.”
“We decided to build an amphitheater very similar to the ones that we saw in Turkey and other European countries,” he said. “According to Mr. Constantin Barbu (the project’s architect), this is the only one (more…)

Poinsettia Celebration
It wouldn’t be the start of the holiday season without viewing the thousands of brilliant poinsettia plants at the annual Poinsettia Celebration held every year the weekend before Thanksgiving at Ellison’s Greenhouses in Brenham located just down the road from the B&B which is the perfect place to elope in Texas!
From 10 am-4 pm each day the weekend before Thanksgiving, visitors can view and purchase from both traditional plants and new varieties. The famous 6-foot “Texas-sized” poinsettias are always on display, as well as the giant holiday poinsettia tree. Tour the greenhouses filled with colorful mums, kalanchoes and other blooming plants, plus the wonder of more than 80,000 multi-color blooming poinsettia varieties. Texas History and Blacksmithing
Blacksmithing In Texas!
On the weekend of October 29-30, step back into history at Barrington Living History Farm as members of the Houston Area Blacksmiths Association will demonstrate the age old craft of metalworking. Experience the blaze of the forge fire, the clang of the hammer and anvil. See blazing hot steel formed into beautiful objects to be displayed.
Demonstrations will take place on both days from 10 am – 4:30 pm. “Smithing in Texas” will be held at Barrington Living History Farm, home of Dr. Anson Jones, the last president of the Republic of Texas. Admission fees are $5 adults, $3 students, and children under 6 are admitted free. State Park pass holders are admitted free as well.
