Everything You Need To Know About The Round Top Antique Show

August 11th, 2016 by Pamela Murski

Round Top Antiques Fairs

The Round Top Antique Show is by far one of the most expansive antique venues in the nation!  Hosted twice a year, the Round Top Antique Show was started over 48 years ago by Emma Lee Turney.  It has since been sold to another owner but the show goes on,  growing larger and larger with each succeeding year.  The original Round Top Antique Show was located in Round Top Texas and included 1-2 venues. With the Bed and Breakfast just minutes down the road, you can enjoy all  4 specific venues that comprise the show now:  The Big Red Barn Tent and Event Center on HWY 237, the Continental Tent on HWY 237, and the Carmine Dance Hall.  After shopping all day, the B&B outdoor spa is a great way to relax those tired feet and get renewed for the next days shopping journey!

The Round Top Antique Show has always been known for its’ consistent reputation for quality and unusual, one-of-a-kind antiques. There is a fee to shop these venues and one ticket gets you into all 4 spots.  The official Round Top Antiques Show  this Fall is September 26 – October 1, 2016.  The dates for Spring 2017 are not yet available but generally will fall the Monday to Saturday that includes the first weekend in April.  Go to their website for all details.

What so many don’t know is that as the show has grown over the years, it has morphed into much, much more than just the 4 venues of the Round Top Antiques Show.  Vendors line the road, back up into pastures, open air lots,  houses, barns, pavilions, tents, dance halls and more for miles and miles.  The antique shows now incorporate many small Texas towns including Brenham, Shelby, Fayetteville, Carmine, Warrenton, and Burton where a broad collection of promoters and local entrepreneurs provide space for more than 2000 antique, collectible and craft vendors and dealers.  Other towns involved in this shopping extravaganza include Oldenburg, Rutersville, La Grange, Columbus and Smithville.

This part of the show known as Antique Weekend, takes place over two and one-half weeks that end the first weekend of April and October each year.  These shows lead up to what is known as the Round Top Antique Show, culminating in almost three weeks of unbelievable shopping and fun!  The dealers and vendors come from virtually every region of the United States.

This is a antique shopping extravaganza you don’t want to miss!  While in our area be sure to take advantage of all the great things there are to do here:  museums, living history, wineries, boutiques, scenic drives, festivals, theatre, live music and more!  Book your room now and make plans for an out of this world shopping  bonanza and amazing getaway!

5 of The Best Experiences on The Round Top Wine Trail

August 2nd, 2016 by Pamela Murski

romantic places to go in texasThe Round Top Wine Trail is a day of shopping,  wine tasting,  sightseeing and fun!  Five of the best things to experience during your day on the Round Top Wine Trail  include your stay at the ranch, an experience unto  itself.  You’ll start your Round Top Wine Trail experience by first spending the previous night in one of our romantic and relaxing guests rooms at the ranch.  Staying in a restored vintage farm home from the 1800’s that has been transformed into an upscale ranch stay is the way to start any  day!

Each guest room is complete with private bath,  private ensuite pantry including mini-fridge, microwave and setups, queen or king bed with soft linens, individual climate control with a/c and fireplace, satellite TV and sitting area.  With access to beautiful outdoor porches, living spaces and outdoor spa,  you have everything set up for the perfect getaway.  Bring back a bottle or two of delicious wine discovered while enjoying the Round Top Wine Trail to your romantic escape and continue the theme of the day…..drinking wine, having fun, enjoying a mini vacation from your weekday life!

The Round Top  Wine Trail, hosted in November, involves all  the quaint shops in Round Top within a square  mile radius, it  is a time  to  sip  wines from local  vineyards, enjoy local eats and shop many of the eclectic storefronts that make up this  tiny  little town of 77!  After perusing the  shops  in Round Top and imbibing  of  some  of the great local tastes, branch  out to some  of the other wineries in the  area to complement the Round Top Wine  Trail.  Continue the  tasting while  enjoying  the beautiful  countryside before  heading back  to the ranch for the  night!

5 of the best to experience include:

1) Rohan  Meadery at 6002 FM 2981, La Grange.  This unique winery hones an old time tradition developed back in the dark ages by monks. Their wine  is made with  honey which  produces  a libation  known  as Mead.  During the summer hours, they  also  show old fashioned  outdoor old movies, free of charge!  Kick  back with a bottle, bring some snacks,  a blanket and enjoy!

2) Saddlehorn Winery at 958 FM 1948 N, Burton.  This  delicious winery has a grand presence situated in a restored metal barn.  Indoors you will find a massive granite tasting  bar, tables and chairs (Texas style) for “sitting a spell” with  friends to  catch  up while  enjoying  a glass or bottle of your favorite tasting!

3) Pleasant  Hill  Winery at 1441 Salem Rd, Brenham.  The wines  produced by this  Sicilian family have won numerous  awards throughout the  years and are consistently  good!

4) Texas Star Winery at 10587 Old  Chappell Hill Rd, Chappell Hill.  This  charming  little winery puts a new spin on what most people typically assume wine  to be, namely an  alcoholic  beverage made from  fermented  grapes.  Here you will find  an assortment of “wines” made with  fermented  fruits other  than grapes….think  Prickly Pear, Cranberry, Hibiscus, Mandarin  Orange & Chocolate  to name a few!  With the pleasant owners, lovely outdoor tables and unique style of wine, this little gem is a pleasant surprise for  your oenophile  tastebuds!

5) Windy Winery at 4232 Clover Rd, Brenham.  Operated by German owners/vintners, this decidedly friendly winery is known for the fact that their wines are produced using grapes only from Texas…..a rare fact, as most wineries blend their grapes with grapes from California and other states.

Time to book your room and start your Wine Trail Journey today!
