If you’re heading to Brenham for a relaxing weekend away there are few leisurely activities as pleasant as a round of golf at the Brenham Country Club. A town staple since being built by a group of businessmen in the 1920s, the club is sill central to recreation in the area. A trip to  the club doesn’t just involve golf, but can be a day-long family affair, and has been entertaining local kin since its opening season. With it’s rebuilt course and clubhouse, this cultural center, while holding the town’s history, still offers visitors all the modern amenities they expect when heading out golfing.

If you’re visiting the Murski Homestead and love to golf, head out to the Brenham Country Club for a relaxing round on these classic links that will help both the most novice and experienced players hone their skills.

Golf

The 18-hole golf course at the Brenham Country Club stretches over 300 acres of the Washington County countryside. Having been expanded and redesigned by Ralph Plummer since the original course was built in the 1920s, this course, now dating back to the 1950s, is still a great play, offering numerous obstacles for both beginning and experienced golfers.

If you haven’t brought your clubs with you on your trip to Brenham you can rent them at the club, as well as purchase any of the other equipment you might need or want at the well-equipped Pro Shop. If you’re looking for a lesson to freshen up your skills or work on one of those wretched bad habits, then schedule your session with Golf Pro, Don L. Aken, our local PGA member and the Director of Golf at the Brenham Country Club. Be sure to head to the driving range before your round to hit a few warm up buckets and dust off your swing.

After Golf

After a long round of golf, there is nothing better than relaxing at the clubhouse bar or better yet, grabbing a drink and a snack and cooling off in the Brenham Country Club pool. With both a large pool good for swimming laps and diving in the deep end, and a small wade pool for the little ones, a day at the club is about more than just golf. While the course is a good place to start, have the family stop by afterwards for some time relaxing in this serene environment perfect for vacationers.

Playing golf at the Brenham Country Club is very affordable, so you don’t have to worry about exorbitant greens fees. Once you have played you can feel free to hang out at the clubhouse or by the pool as long as you like. This is a great place to meet some locals and get a feel for the easy Brenham lifestyle. If you’re staying at the Murski Homestead for a weekend getaway and want to play a round or two on your trip, this is definitely the place to do it. Call ahead and book your tee times at this Brenham gem.
