February 25th, 2015 by Pamela Murski

Join the excitement at the Burton Cotton Gin  Festival in Burton, Texas!  The historic 1914 Burton Farmers Gin nestled in the heart of Burton, Texas, where it was built almost 100 years ago, was designated on June 19, 2009 as the Official Cotton Gin Museum of Texas!  After visiting the museum, take a guided tour of the historic gin and learn all about when “cotton was king”.

For all you engine buffs…our gin is home to a 1925 Bessemer Type IV diesel oil engine. The restored 16 ton “Lady B” is the largest internal combustion engine of its vintage still operating in America! We still gin and bale cotton each year at our annual Burton  Cotton Gin Festival.

The Burton Cotton Gin  Festival is held every year the third weekend in April.  You will get to experience parades, an arts & crafts fair, folk life demonstrations, antique tractor pulls, great food & drink, live entertainment & dancing, children activities  to Festival Gin tours!  The role of cotton throughout history is  fascinating and intriguing!  Discover for yourself how it has affected the world for centuries and played a major role in economics and wars.
