Every year in
Brenham, Texas, the first weekend in December is the big downtown Christmas Stroll with the lighted parade and the first big weekend that the
ranch is decorated for the season. It is a fantastic way to start the Christmas season with wassail (or in my case “Spiked Hot Lemonade”), gingerbread houses, outdoor music & activities, the showing of an outdoor Christams classic movie on the courthouse square, shopping late, Christmas plays at Unity Theatre and, of course, the lighted downtown Christmas Parade! The picture below gives you just a glimpse into some of the fun to be had this weekend each year. There is a huge competition (for bragging rights only) to see who can come up with the best float. The theme for the parade this year was Candy Lane Christmas and this float did a great job of bringing the game of Candy Land to life! What you can’t see is that the gingerbread house puffs out sugar-cookie scented smoke…it was way too cool! Be sure to try our Spiked Lemonade recipe and reserve your
2 night stay at our ranch for this great event next year! You don’t want to miss out!

Spiked Hot Lemonade
1 large can frozen lemonade
1 large can water (use lemonade can for measuring)
1 1/2 cups good quality vodka (Grey Goose)
Warm lemonade and water. Add vodka and heat to your liking. Use a fresh Rosemary sprig for swizzling and the taste gets even better! Pour up and enjoy!

Great thought and preparation began months in advance of the wonderful celebratory meal in the territories to order and stock enough “special ingredients” to make their feast the highlight of the season. Staples included (more…)
